The following is a list of terms used in this document to describe features found on Millers Falls planes. Some of the terms are unique to Millers Falls and will be pointed out.
The heel tab is found on the smoothing planes. On the type 1 premium line, the heel tab is above the sole. All other smoothing planes the heel tab is part of the sole.
The casting gate is a unique feature to Millers Falls.
The bed knob ribs are a unique feature to Millers Falls.
The yoke pin recess is a unique feature to Millers Falls.
The frog face relief is unique to Millers Falls.
The lever cap has two sections: the upper section and the lower section.
The contact pads are the two additional pressure points.
The interlocking tabs are only found on type 1 planes.
The Millers Falls lever cap has a unique look with the oval grips along the wheel edge
The frog risers on the early versions have a thin base. Later versions will have a thicker base
Manual adjust block planes have a cast strike-button on the heel
The depth adjusting screw has two different screw diameters: one is used for the threads on the frog and the other threads control the iron depth adjusting seat
The eccentric lever will have the end turned up for the smaller 1-3/8” planes and turned down on the 1-5/8” planes
The depth adjusting screw on all block planes produced up to around 1964 will have a crosshatch or diamond knurling on the knob. After 1964 the knob will have a straight knurling.
The depth adjusting nut will pivot the depth adjusting lever to advance or retract the iron
The depth adjusting nut mechanism is only used on planes bed at 20 degrees
