8900 (1974 to 1991+)
The 8900 brought misrepresenting the catalog image to a whole new level. The same image was used from 1974 until 1991. The only problem is that the image for the 8900 in the catalog never existed. The 8900 would be a collection of metal, plastic and sometimes wood that never fit together very well and would be called a plane.

The only thing that Millers Falls did to these planes when they came in from Great Neck was to apply a sticker to the cap and one to the end of the box.

Why was this label cut in half? One reason could be that in 1978 the company moved from Greenfield to Deerfield. Cut the Greenfield location from the excess labels? Waste not, Want not.

The breakdown

This is a classic Great Neck look.

The trigger 8900 came in a normal cheek and a "Low Side"

From the label on the box, this "Low Side" was distributed from the Greenfield plant.

Most of the trigger planes were "Low Side"

Another example of a lost location.

After Greenfield, the company would move three more times: to Deerfield Massachusetts, Alpha, New Jersey, Cleveland, Ohio. Which location is this version from?

If your collecting Great Neck planes, this plane is for you!
9814 (1974 to 1991+)
The 14 inch version had the same features as the 9 inch version.

The Ingersoll-Rand symbol and Millers Falls are cast in the lever cap.

This version has a sticker applied to the lever cap.

The 9814 also had the trigger version. Even without a label, you can still tell it is a Millers Falls with the casting gates at the toe and heel.
