No. 8707
The 8707 had an eighteen-year span starting in 1975 and was still being shown in a 1993 catalog. This plane was never manufactured at the Millers Falls factory. At the start, whoever cast the plane (Great Neck) used the original casting template provided by Millers Falls. Sometime in the late seventies, the Millers Falls template was discontinued and a generic casting was used and distributed to Millers Falls as well as many different hardware companies. This generic version is one of the hardest planes to collect because it had no permanent identifying stamps on it, only an applied sticker. The catalogs all the way up to the 1993 version show the 8707 as a 707 image.

The 1975 catalog has a new Ingersoll Rand Millers Falls trademark. This plane has the same trademark as an ink stamp on the lever cap.

It is not clear when these planes were made, but you can see the Ingersoll Rand symbol, so these were made before 1982. If you look at the 8707 in any of the catalogs, you will see a plane that looks like a 707. Do these two look like a No. 707?

It was a guessing game until an 8707 was found with a box.

There may be several more versions of the 8707 out there from its eighteen year history. Also, note the 6-1/2 inches. The catalog has it at 7 inches.

This is the look when Ingersoll Rand was still in the game.
