No.206B
The No. 206B was designed to take more abuse than the traditional cast iron block plane. The body, lever cap and frog are all made from pressed steel with the frog spot welded to the body. The bed and inside cheeks are black enamel. The lever cap, outside cheeks and sole have a polished finish. The knob, lever cap screw and depth adjusting screw are nickel plated. The cheeks have finger grip holes giving the user a secure grip on the plane. The name and number are stamped on the cheek. The iron depth adjusting seat is made from cast iron. In 1966 the depth adjusting screw, depth adjusting seat, and frog were redesigned to accept the new three oval hole iron configuration.

The screw to secure the lever cap cannot be removed. Two holes on the cheeks are the finger grips. The front knob is secured to the bed.

The body, frog and lever cap are stamped steel. The body and frog are spot welded together. This plane has a cast iron adjustment seat. After 1966, the adjustment seat will be made from pressed steel and the frog will be redesigned to accept the new adjustment seat. This plane was in a box with a date stamp August 1966. You can see in the picture that the iron has an ink stamp.

The 206B in the red box was from the start in 1959 to around 1962. See the Box page for the complete timeline.

This plane had a total of six parts. This example has the original Solid Tool Steel iron.
