No. 1455
In 1956, the No. 66 was reborn as the No. 1455. The No. 1455 will have a stained hardwood knob secured with a 10-24 external screw, a red and gray lever cap with the body painted gray. The early No. 1455 planes have the same bed as the original No. 66. Before the plane goes into the “B” configuration, the plane will see two separate changes to the casting and the color. The initial plane had a support bridge between the lever cap screw and the iron landing. At some point the casting would change eliminating the bridge support and increasing the frog width from 39/64” to 49/64” and cast “Made In USA” on two lines . The width of the body also increased slightly but this width change would happen more then once during the “B” version. The second change will see the No. 1455 with a black bed and black lever cap. The name and number will also be stamped on the cheek.
In 1966 with the “B” version, the frog will be reconfigured to accept the new depth adjusting screw and standardized iron with the three oval holes. The new depth adjusting screw will have the iron depth adjusting seat attached to the screw shaft and the screw knob will have a new straight line knurling.
Type 1 configuration – 1956 - 1966
The name and number are not stamped on the cheek.

Approx 1963 - support bridge is eliminated and “Made In USA” is on two lines.

Approx 1965 - cam lock lever cap is painted black.
Type 2 configuration starting 1966 to 1974

Name and number stamped on the side cheek.
Frog and the adjustment screw with seat are redesigned.
Depth adjustment screw knob has straight line pattern knurling.
The depth adjustment screw knob is plastic near the end of production.

No. 1455 V-Line version with the burgundy stained hardwood knob. Later the knob will have different shades of stain.

The plane on the left is a type 2 No. 66. The middle plane is an early release No. 1455 with the support bridge between the lever cap screw and the iron landing. The plane on the right used a different 1455 template that changes the width of the frog, eliminated the center iron support bridge, and has "Made In USA" on two lines.

Sometime in the 60's before the "B" conversion, the No. 1455 would have the name and number stamped on the cheek and the lever cap and bed are painted black.

No. 1455B inside look with the redesigned adjustment mechanism and frog to accommodate the three hole standardized iron. Unlike the previous configuration, you can put this iron in on the wrong side.

No. 1455B

This 1455B has a plastic depth adjusting knob. The cheeks and bed have a very rough surface which was painted black. The surface of the cheeks are so rough, you can not see the cheek stamp.

It is hard to believe Millers Falls allowed this outsourced casting to be sold.
